Good Color Adjustment Requires More Than What Meets the Eye.

Understanding CMYK color balance is essential when making color adjustments on a printing press. One common mistake is assuming that if a particular color appears too weak, the solution is simply to increase the amount of corresponding ink.

However, effective color adjustment requires a deeper understanding of how different CMYK halftone percentages work together. Sometimes, the problem isn't that one color is insufficient, but that another color is excessive, disrupting the overall color balance.

For example, when a printed color appears too orange rather than the desired reddish-magenta tone, the immediate reaction might be to increase magenta. But if the magenta level is already sufficient, the real issue could be an excessive amount of yellow. In this case, reducing yellow may bring the printed color closer to the intended result without unnecessarily increasing magenta.

Understanding these principles helps me identify problems more accurately, find effective solutions, and earn the respect of experienced professionals on the production floor.

This knowledge comes from years of hands-on experience working directly with manufacturers and solving real production challenges. That's why I always value being on the factory floor. It's where I can see problems firsthand, understand their root causes, and keep learning through practical experience.
